Best travel watches for 2020
If you’re one of the thousands braving a flight abroad and the crowds at baggage collection in the coming weeks, you’ll want to travel light – and that includes your choice of wristwear.
Going to a different time zone? You’ll want a watch that can offer a bit more oomph than simply hours and minutes… whilst looking both fashionable and functional, of course. It’ll need to look smart at night but casual for the day and oh, it’ll need to be waterproof, obviously.
Here we share some of the best luxury travel watches for 2020.
1.Breitling Emergency
This is a serious contender for our favourite travelling companions. If you happen to get lost in Sydney’s Blue Mountains, this watch has an integrated transmitter that can alert emergency response units to where you are! Pretty incredible.
And in other great news, whether you choose to holiday in Antarctica or Dubai, the watch can withstand temperatures ranging from -20℃ to 55℃.
With offerings in metal-of-the-moment steel, as well as gold and titanium, this luxury timepiece also boasts handy functions including triple calendar, stopwatch and chronograph.
2. Rolex GMT Master II
So this watch is already on many a wanted list in its many colour varieties but the GMT Master II really is worthy of its place on our travel watch champions list.
This timepiece can track three different time zones at once thanks to a bidirectional rotating 24-hour graduated bezel. With an easy-to-set second time zone, it’s easy to see why this model is the choice of pilots everywhere.
Available in steel, 18k yellow, white gold and two-tone, the watch has a 40mm case.
And for those in the sea before they unpack, the water resistance on this timepiece is 100m which is impressive. So whether you plan to dine out or dive under, there’s no need to swap your watch on holiday.
3. Patek Philippe Alarm Travel Time
You will love Patek’s reference 5520P – a self-winding grand complication that combines an exclusive two-zone Travel Time system with an innovative mechanical alarm feature.
Discover this legible, functional watch which looks complicated but is so user-friendly and allows you to read the time in over 24 time zones. Local time is indicated by hours, minutes and seconds hands and these are filled with Superluminova. Two day and night indicators show local and home time.
The alarm also has a day and night indicator as it can be programmed across 24 hours and we like the two pushers on the left which can be used to correct local time in either direction.
Suave and sophisticated and incredibly useful, we love this grand complication from Patek with its power reserve of 48 hours. The only downside is they are only water resistant to 30m but for the fabulous functions it offers, we can forgive it.
4. Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean GMT
It may be a luxury watch on a rubber strap but this is perfect for travels abroad. If you’re away for business and you don’t fancy the coloured strap with your suit, fair play, but for a tropical resort, this is an amazing choice.
It has a second time zone complication, making it great for travel, with an optional GMT element and staggering 600m water resistance. This Omega is thick and is imposing on the wrist for that very reason.
Options to accessorise the rubber straps are available and the clasps are a stainless steel satin finish. If you need help to find a travel watch for your holiday, contact us today as we have many world renowned brands of new and pre-worn watches in stock.
