Celeb focus: Brit star Statham is Hollywood’s one to watch

Only former Great Britain diver Jason Statham could make a film about bee trivia and indiscriminate slaughter look good.

But somehow his latest movie The Beekeeper has proven a mega hit at the box office, earning him $25 million in the process as the bald action hero quickly climbs the ranks of Hollywood’s favourite actors.

The Beekeeper has claimed top spot for 2024 films so far but Statham’s movies have grossed more than $5 billion worldwide.

But bee-hind the scenes (sorry) Statham is a great fan of watches and boasts quite the collection. Let’s check out some of his stash – which includes Audemars Piguet, Rolex, IWC and so many more, now.

Rolex Daytona Panda Big Red

Few timepieces command the level of allure as the vintage Rolex Daytona Panda Big Red 6263. But it’s one of Statham’s impressive collection.

At first glance, the watch captivates with its floating Big Red dial, a hallmark of rarity as well as desirability with fans of the brand. Subcontrasting subdials set against a clean white backdrop with Daytona in bold red lettering just gives an air of sophistication.

Beyond the aesthetic appeal is the 727 calibre, renowned for its precision and reliability. This watch is passion, style and precision – all rolled into one.

Patek Philippe Nautilus

We are not at all jealous of his Patek Philippe Nautilus 5980/1R stands out as the epitome of elegance and sophistication.

Crafted with an 18k rose gold case exuding opulence, its meticulously designed dial and chronograph features showcase unparalleled artistry. This timepiece seamlessly marries style with practicality, mirroring Statham’s diverse on-screen personas and off-screen aspirations.

It not only reflects his discerning taste but also pays homage to Patek Philippe’s enduring legacy of exquisite craftsmanship.

IWC Aquatimer

Given Jason’s real-life expertise in diving, it’s reasonable to think that he in fact owns the IWC Aquatimer worn by his character Jonas Taylor in 2018 thriller, ‘The Meg’.

This timepiece boasts a 44mm stainless steel case with a rubber-coated solid case back. Its dark gray dial showcases luminous hour markers and hands, along with a 3 o’clock date window and two subdials.

With unidirectional rotating inner and outer bezels, it operates on automatic mechanical movement.

Rolex explorer II Steve McQueen

This offering in steel is another vintage of the British actor. He wears the orange GMT hand reference 1655 introduced in 1971.

Featuring a matte black dial with a date aperture, it has a fixed stainless steel 24 hour bezel. Equipped with a stainless steel Oyster bracelet and a stainless steel deployant clasp, it’s also fitted with a plastic glass – perfect for martial arts and general bad guy ass-kicking – and a self-winding automatic movement
