Fantastic fairways and winning watches

Sports fans will soon have their attention fixed on New York, as the 45th Ryder Cup unfolds on the storied Black Course at Bethpage State Park.

From September 26 – 28, golf’s fiercest rivalry will once again pit Team USA against defending champions Team Europe in a spectacle of precision, pressure, and pride.

While every swing will command the crowd’s gaze, it’s not just the strokes that will be scrutinised – every wrist will be in the spotlight too, making timepieces as much a part of the conversation as the competition itself.

Here are a few of the beautiful watches we can expect to see on the fairways…

Rory McIlroy ~ Omega

Rory McIlroy – who has recently completed the career grand slam and only the 6th to do so in history –  isn’t just one of golf’s modern greats – he’s also a man with an eye for timeless style.

Beyond his precision on the fairways, the Northern Irish champion is known for his appreciation of nice watches.

As a global ambassador for Omega, Rory has been spotted sporting everything from the classic Seamaster to the bold Speedmaster, timepieces that balance elegance with performance.

He has quite the collection of watches too – including the Seamaster Aqua Terra “Ultra Light” – an athlete-friendly model made in gamma titanium, as well as the 150M GMT of the same watch, in a 43mm dial.

He even has a yellow gold Speedmaster ’57 “Rory McIlroy” special edition, which is a tribute to achievements – his course record of 61 at Portrush.

But we do have a soft spot for his silver Snoopy Award 50th anniversary Speedmaster, which he wore during his win at The Masters.

Scottie Scheffler ~ Rolex

Scottie Scheffler has firmly established himself among the elite in golf. A consistent performer, he’s racked up multiple major championships, including the Masters last year, the PGA Championship and The Open this year – not to mention a gold medal at the Paris Olympics.

Off the course, Scottie’s taste in watches says a lot about his style: sophisticated, classic, but with character.

And as a Rolex ambassador, you’d expect to see some beauties in his watch collection and you’d be spot on.

He’s got the Submariner ‘Hulk’ with its green bezel & dial – quite the signature watch for him and also a personal favourite here at Luxe Watches – the GMT-Master II Root Beer (reference 126711CHNR), which is steel and Everose gold for a rich two-tone look, which he wore when celebrating his first Masters title.

Ludvig Aberg ~ Rolex

Swiftly becoming one of golf’s most exciting talents, the Swedish prodigy, who turned professional in 2023, has already secured multiple victories on both the PGA and DP World Tours.

Notably, he clinched his first PGA Tour title at the RSM Classic and followed it up with a remarkable win at the 2025 Genesis Invitational, where he finished second at the 2024 Masters.

His impressive performance at the 2023 Ryder Cup further solidified his status as a rising star in the sport.

Aberg also has an association with Rolex. In 2023, he clinched victory at the Omega Masters earning an exclusive Seamaster Aqua Terra as his winner’s watch.

This 41mm timepiece is crafted from Omega’s 18K sedna gold, featuring a sun-brushed blue dial with teak pattern stripes inspired by luxury sailboats.

Shane Lowry ~ Patek Philippe

The 2019 Open champion, who has also amassed six more European Tour victories and has represented Europe in the Ryder Cup, is known for his impressive golfing skills and his appreciation for luxury timepieces.

The Irishman has been spotted wearing several high-end watches, one of which is a favourite here at Luxe Watches.

It’s the Patek Philippe Nautilus 5726-1a-014, a stainless steel model featuring an annual calendar and moon phase complication. This watch is renowned for its elegant design and complex movement, aligning with Lowry’s sophisticated style.

Additionally, Lowry has been seen wearing the Patek Philippe Aquanaut Travel Time 5164A-001 during The Open Championship. This 40mm stainless steel watch boasts a dual-time zone function, making it both practical and stylish for a globetrotting golfer.

Jon Rahm ~ Rolex

Jon Rahm may have been a professional for just ten years, but he’s already cemented himself as one of golf’s brightest stars.

One constant by his side? His trusty Rolex Sky-Dweller, which has accompanied him through major wins like the US Open, the Masters, and his Ryder Cup triumphs.

This elegant watch isn’t just about style – it’s packed with clever features.

Dual time zones let Rahm keep an eye on both US and Spanish time via a rotating disc, while the annual calendar automatically adjusts for months with 30 or 31 days (only March requires a manual tweak). All of this is controlled with a simple twist of the bezel, making it the perfect mix of sophistication and practicality for a globe-trotting champion.
