The watches of Prince Harry
Married an actress, gave a frank Oprah interview, starred in a Netflix series and spilled untold revelations in a bestseller including how he lost his virginity in a field outside a pub to an older woman who “rode him like a stallion”.
We could only be talking about Prince Harry – now, without doubt, one of the most controversial people ever.
The constant barrage in the press and on social media resulted in him and his wife, Meghan Markle, moving abroad and living a separate life away from the remaining Royals.
But regardless of your thoughts on Prince Harry, he did serve his country for a decade including deployments in Afghanistan. And before we lose track of why we’re here, it appears he’s quite the fan of a luxury military-style timepiece.
He’s been pictured in several high-end watches including a Rolex Explorer II and a bespoke Breitling Aerospace Avantage. Let’s take a look at the Prince Harry watches.
Rolex Oyster Perpetual Explorer II 216570
It’s quite possible Prince Harry chose the Explorer II due to its durability. He has been spied wearing the white dial version of this mechanical, self-winding watch on a fair few occasions. It features a stainless steel 42mm case and matching triple-link Oyster bracelet, with a 24-hour orange hand and date screen at 3 o’clock.
It’s definitely one of the more funky-looking styles with bolder features, enlarged hands and hour markers, with some contrasting use of colours. Powered by the Rolex caliber 3187, it has an impressive 48-hour power reserve.
We believe the one he wore to his brother’s wedding is a special edition that was made for the British Military’s Attack Helicopter Regiment. The caseback shows an Apache helicopter over a union jack.
Prince Harry also wore the older reference 16550 for several years prior to the 2011 release of the 216570.
Breitling Aerospace Avantage
This special version is only available to Apache pilots who have flown combat missions. At 9 o’clock lies the Army Air Corps Wings, while at 3 o’clock you can see a picture of the Apache helicopter.
Prince Harry wore it at the Invictus Games in London in 2014. There are several versions of the watch but his has a titanium bracelet and rotating bezel, blue dial and quartz movement. The bezel marks the start time of an event, making it a handy feature for a pilot.
Prince William’s watches
Meanwhile Prince William’s watches include an Omega Seamaster Professional. He was gifted the watch from his mother, the late Princess Diana and wore it on his wedding to Kate Middleton.
The 300m mid-size watch has a blue dial, stainless steel case and features a chronometer, rotating bezel and helium escape valve making it super reliable and accurate.
