Rolex watches set to increase in value in 2024
People often ask us why we love Rolex watches so much. Well, the brand is synonymous with exceptional quality and craftsmanship, with each timepiece meticulously assembled by skilled watchmakers using high-quality materials, including precious metals and sapphire crystals.
Not only are Rolex watches classic and timeless designs, they’re also built to last and can withstand many conditions including extreme temperatures.
If you’re looking for a great investment piece or you’re having a sort of your existing collection, here are five watches you’ll definitely want in your locker as we approach the new year. These are those we believe are set to soar in value.
Rolex GMT Master II – Sprite
We’ve always loved this watch – and if you’re lucky enough to have one, don’t let it out of your sight. Instantly recognisable with its pleasing green and black bezel design, its outstanding feature is the crown on the left side, making it the perfect offering for left-handers.
The 126720VTNR caters to the needs of globetrotters who value precision, durability, and a touch of elegance. With a 40mm stainless steel case, this watch ensures longevity and resistance to corrosion. Its dial is shielded by a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, and the Triplock winding crown guarantees water resistance to a depth of 100 meters.
And if that’s not enough, it features the in-house calibre 3285, a self-winding mechanical movement with an impressive 70-hour power reserve. The bidirectional bezel includes a 24-hour graduated scale, enabling the wearer to monitor multiple time zones simultaneously.
Rolex Daytona – white gold, blue dial
Another classy offering, it’s up there on our must-haves list. Crafted with meticulous attention to detail, it’s a rare find. The design is understated but it’s so slick.
The 116509 is a highly sought-after model known for its luxury and precision. Its 18ct white gold case and matching Oyster bracelet gives it a luxurious and durable finish.
Equipped with Rolex’s in-house caliber 4130 movement, a chronograph function is included: a central seconds hand, a 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock, and a 12-hour counter at 9 o’clock.
It has a water resistance rating of up to 100 meters (330 feet), making it suitable for swimming and some water sports. It also features screw-down pushers and a screw-down crown, which enhance its water resistance and prevent moisture from entering the case.
Rolex Submariner Date – Hulk
The Hulk – 116610LV – with its green dial, is not always readily available, which further increases its appeal among collectors and enthusiasts. We anticipate its value is likely to continue to increase over time, making it a smart investment for watch enthusiasts.
Highly regarded for its durability, water resistance, and classic design, its key design features are its stainless steel 40mm case with solid caseback and screw down crown, not to mention a Triplock triple waterproof system.
The watch features a unidirectional rotating bezel, which allows divers to keep track of their dive times. It is also water-resistant to a depth of 300 meters, making it a perfect watch for diving and swimming.
Rolex Sea-Dweller
When considering the complete Rolex lineup, the Sea-Dweller stands out as a somewhat underrated gem. The 116600 is known for its exceptional water resistance rating of 1,200m and helium escape valve, making it an awesome watch for divers.
Surprisingly, the Sea-Dweller boasts exceptional performance and rarity compared to the Submariner, yet it is frequently available on the secondary market at a similar price point.
Reference 116600 is a truly remarkable timepiece that often goes unnoticed by many collectors. Produced only between 2014 and 2017, it stands as the final 40mm Sea-Dweller and the inaugural model to sport a ceramic bezel insert. It’s also the last Sea-Dweller model crafted without a Cyclops lens on the crystal.
Production was relatively limited, and although prices remain relatively reasonable for now, they are poised to steadily rise, mirroring the trend of the past several years, as more collectors discover the uniqueness of this reference.
