What could Omega have planned for 007 ?

Ever since Daniel Craig sacrificed himself to stop a bioweapon in No Time to Die, the future of the nation’s favourite spy has raised more questions than ever before.

Who will become the next James Bond? What direction will the franchise take? And, perhaps most importantly for watch enthusiasts, what will be the next Omega watch on their wrist?

It’s now been more than five years since the release of the OMEGA Seamaster Diver 300M 007 Edition, better known among collectors as the “NTTD Seamaster”.

The lightweight titanium diver quickly became one of the most desirable Bond watches ever produced, blending vintage military styling with modern Omega engineering.

Speculation is beginning again

Rumours surrounding the next Bond actor continue to dominate the press, with Jacob Elordi, Callum Turner, Harris Dickinson and Theo James all linked to the role.

Meanwhile, Denis Villeneuve of Dune, will direct Bond 26, while Steven Knight of Peaky Blinders-fame writes the script.

Following Amazon MGM Studios’ acquisition of the Bond rights, some fans believe we could eventually see Bond move into the streaming world through a TV show, rather than remaining solely a silver-screen icon.

One thing that appears strong as ever though, is Omega’s relationship with 007.

Omega has now been associated with James Bond for more than 30 years, first appearing on screen in GoldenEye on the wrist of Pierce Brosnan. That watch was the iconic Omega Seamaster Diver 300M Quartz, a model that would go on to define Bond’s modern watch identity.

Since then, Bond has worn some of the most memorable Omega models ever produced, from the Seamaster Professional seen throughout the Brosnan era to Craig’s tougher, military-inspired Seamaster designs.

What comes next ?

Earlier this year, Omega quietly gave fans a cheeky teaser during the trailer reveal for 007 First Light. Around halfway through the trailer, a younger-looking Bond is introduced to a Q-style character who presents him with a selection of Omega watches.

Watch enthusiasts immediately noticed something interesting.

The watch chosen appears to be a previously unseen Seamaster Diver 300M Chronograph, featuring several details that suggest it could become the next official Bond watch release. Most notably, the red “Seamaster” text mirrors the styling of the No Time To Die edition, hinting that this is far more than a standard production model.

Fans also spotted what appears to be a contrasting bronze-gold finish within the 12-hour subdial at 3 o’clock.

Omega reportedly designed a bespoke watch specifically for the game, fully rendered in 3D and complete with fictional Bond gadgets including a taser, remote detonator and dart gun.

With 007 First Light launching this month across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC, many collectors believe an official Omega tie-in release is now only a matter of time.
