What Does A Watch Service Include?
When you entrust your timepiece to us here at Luxe Watches, you’re giving it more than just a maintenance check-up. You’re giving it the expert care only a luxury watch specialist can provide.
In this post, we will walk you through, step-by-step, exactly what does a watch service includes, with a focus on how we handle everything from a simple bezel replacement to a full overhaul of a brand like Omega or Rolex.
Why a Watch Service Matters
Even the finest luxury watch is a precision instrument. Years of wear, exposure to elements, daily knocks, and even subtle shifts in lubrication mean that over time, accuracy and reliability can decrease. A proper watch service ensures your watch continues to perform beautifully and retains value.
| At Luxe Watches, we believe that if serviced the right way, your watch will both look and work like the day you first discovered it. Whether it’s your everyday piece or a cherished high-end investment, we cover all bases. |
The Stages of Our Professional Watch Service
Here’s how we break down a full watch service in our workshop. It’s a comprehensive process, and by the end you’ll have a watch that’s been carefully checked, cleaned and fine-tuned.

Initial Inspection & Diagnostic
First things first, we open the case (in a dust-controlled environment) and assess the movement, parts, seals, bracelet/strap condition, and external appearance. We’re looking for wear, damage, signs of moisture or dust ingress, and whether parts appear to be functioning as they should.
Disassembly of Movement, Case & Bracelet
Once the diagnosis is done, we proceed to dismantle the watch movement, remove the case back, crown, bezel (if applicable), bracelet or strap and case components. Each part is catalogued and carefully handled.
For example, if you have an Omega watch service booked, the calibre will be fully taken apart.
Ultrasonic Cleaning of Case, Bracelet & Components
We conduct professional watch cleaning of the exterior: the case, bracelet or strap, bezel, crown and case back. All metal parts go through ultrasonic bath cleaning to remove old oil, grime, micro-particles and residues.
We polish or satin-finish as specified, paying close attention not to over-polish and preserving the original finishing. Meanwhile, the internal movement parts also get cleaned to remove old lubricants.
Replacement of Worn Parts & Lubrication
Any components found to be below spec, such as the gear teeth worn, pivots loosened, mainsprings tired, or seals weakened, are replaced with genuine or high-quality equivalent parts. Then each component of the movement is re-lubricated with the correct oils and greases at exactly the right points.
Proper lubrication is crucial to minimise friction, optimise power transfer, and maintain long-term reliability.
Movement Re-assembly and Timing
The movement is reassembled, calibrated, and tested for timing in multiple positions (crown up/down, dial up/down, etc) to ensure it meets manufacturer or workshop-spec standards.
The watch is also checked for amplitude, power reserve and beat error.
Re-casement, Seal Replacement, Water-resistance Test
Once the movement is confirmed, we re-case the watch, install new gaskets/seals, and crown and case-back washers are needed. Then we do a water-resistance test under pressure (complementing the original rating).
This step is essential if your watch has been exposed to moisture, or if it’s a diver style.
Final Cleaning & Presentation
Once everything is working perfectly, we perform a final external clean, check for finish consistency, re-polish or refine satin surfaces, inspect bracelet links, clasps and deployants. Your watch is then buffed, finalised and made ready to wear or for collection.
The goal: as good as, or in some cases better than, the day you bought it!
Quality Control & Warranty
We don’t just hand it back straightaway. Every serviced piece goes through a thorough quality check process for accuracy, appearance and function.
At Luxe Watches, when we complete any professional watch repair service, we include a 12-month warranty on the work and parts installed, to give you peace of mind.
Tailored service: for example, an Omega watch service
If you own an Omega, you’ll appreciate that specific models (Aqua Terra, SeaMaster Chronometer, vintage) need particular attention. An Omega watch service at our workshop includes the same stages as above, but also addresses model-specific items such as:
- Calibre special parts or anti-magnetic components
- Model-specific bezel/bracelet tolerances
- Certification of timing to Omega or equivalent standard
- Optionally obtaining manufacturer-sourced parts if you prefer factory spec
We take pride in servicing Omega and other luxury watch brands, including Rolex and Richard Mille. We specialise not only in standard watches but also in high-end pieces that demand precision.

- Dedicated workshop: We don’t outsource to a third-party. The work happens right here, so accountability and quality control are top-tier.
- Quality assurance: After our professional watch cleaning and full service, your watch will undergo rigorous testing, and we stand behind our work with a warranty.
- Value retention: By staying on top of your service intervals, you not only maintain optimal operation but also protect your watch’s value and collectability.
When Should You Service Your Watch?
A common rule of thumb is every 3 to 5 years for a full service, or sooner if you notice any of the following:
- Power reserve is shorter than usual
- Timekeeping drifting
- Moisture or fog under the crystal
- The case and bracelet, or clasp, are becoming loose or worn
- Water resistance is compromised after exposure
Whatever you notice, it’s better to bring your watch in for a check rather than wait until a minor issue becomes major.
