Why we love Patek’s new Cubitus collection
We love a new watch range here – and for us, it’s even more exciting as the launch in question is from one of our favourite watch brands. And better still, when it’s taking a huge deviation away from one of its most popular designs.
Patek Philippe officially launched the Cubitus collection this month. This is a modern and sporty alternative to the iconic Nautilus and Aquanaut series – but its main aim is to attract a younger audience – or perhaps those who have given up on the decade-long waiting lists for other models.
The range includes models in stainless steel, two-tone rose gold and steel, and platinum. These material options not only add diversity but also meet different budget ranges and preferences, appealing to both new buyers and long-time collectors looking for variety in their collections.
With a bold 45mm case size and a streamlined, minimalist design that differs from Patek’s traditional styles, the varied pricing makes these watches accessible while retaining the exclusivity expected from Patek Philippe.
There are three delightful models on offer here, so let’s take a look:
Reference 5821A
The Patek Philippe Cubitus Ref. 5821A is the entry-level model in the new Cubitus collection.
Designed in a stainless steel case with a distinctive 45mm diameter, it pairs a robust build with an elegant and understated design, reflecting a modern approach in Patek Philippe’s line-up.
We absolutely love the dial on this one – a rich olive green with horizontal embossing that adds texture and depth, giving it a sporty yet refined look. This model keeps things simple with three-hand time and date functions powered by the 26-330 SC automatic movement, and it also offers an impressive 45-hour power reserve.
The 5821A combines practicality with a bold visual statement. We really like the geometric case and clean aesthetic, which diverges from Patek Philippe’s classic designs like the Nautilus and Aquanaut. This model is definitely geared toward a younger, style-conscious audience looking for a sporty watch with high craftsmanship but not overloaded with complications.
Reference 5821AR
This Cubitus reference offers a blend of stainless steel and rose gold, combining modern style with timeless elegance. Its refined blue embossed dial recalls the iconic look of the Nautilus, but the Cubitus design introduces a fresh approach with updated details.
The case, at 45mm, gives it a substantial wrist presence, and the two-tone look makes it versatile enough for both formal and casual wear.
Powered by Patek Philippe’s 26-330 SC automatic movement, the 5821AR provides accuracy and a 45-hour power reserve.
We like this model for its ability to be straightforward. The focus here is on the time and date functions, without excessive complications. The refined design and understated luxury make it a sought-after piece among contemporary watch enthusiasts
Reference 5822P
Now we come to the most exclusive model in the recently launched Cubitus collection, crafted from platinum and featuring a 45mm case that blends elegance with contemporary style.
This platinum model is unique for its intricate dial design, which includes a big date display at 12 o’clock, a day indicator, and a moon phase complication at the base of the dial. Additionally, a small seconds subdial and an off-centre logo at 3 o’clock complete its aesthetic, balancing both form and functionality.
Under the dial, the watch is powered by the 240 PS CI J LU micro-rotor automatic movement, which incorporates several of Patek Philippe’s proprietary technologies for precision and reliability. The micro-rotor design allows the watch to maintain a slimmer profile despite the added complications.
This model is designed for collectors who appreciate both the mechanical innovation and understated luxury for which Patek Philippe is renowned.

The prices for the new Cubitus collection highlights its place in the high-end sports watch market. The entry-level 5821A is around £30,800, while the two-tone 5821AR is a good chunk of change more, coming in at £40,000.
At the upper end, the Cubitus 5822P in platinum, featuring complex additions such as a large date, day indicator, and moon phase, is priced around £61,600.
