UEFA Champions League Limited Edition Chronograph released
It doesn’t matter which player or team you’re rooting for. One watch is the common denominator in passion for the beautiful game.
Hublot is toasting seven years as the official timekeeper for the UEFA Champions League with a brand new Big Bang model.
The new timepiece is designed to capture the best moments of football including the fastest goal by Roy Makaay who only let 10.12 seconds elapse before putting Bayern ahead against Real Madrid in the 2006-07 round-of-16 tie.
And not forgetting the 1999 final when Manchester United beat Bayern 2-1. Sir Alex Ferguson brought on Teddy Sheringham and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer who both scored in added time to complete a famous dramatic comeback in Barcelona.
The Big Bang Unico UEFA Champions League
The stunning blue watch, worth a cool $24,100USD is limited to only 100 pieces.
Crucial moments on the pitch are timed with the bead-blasted blue ceramic chronograph. The sporty number, perfect for a casual soccer match or dinner out, features contrasting matte black and silver pushers, while its skeletonised chronograph dial design showcases the inner workings of the complex movement.
A discreet Champions League logo blends in perfectly at the 9 o’clock indicator, whilst the back case includes an engraved UEFA logo to signify the special release.
Packing a punch with a 72-hour power reserve, the new self-winding movement is based on the Unico 2 – more complicated and advanced for improved reliability with a 354-piece construction.
And with a 42mm case design, it’s certainly a comfortable design for larger wrist sizes with its blue rubber strap and titanium clasp.
Capturing the best moments in football
Each moment in the competition is measured in Hublot time, on the referee board with the exact minute and second of each goal, each card, every pitch entry and each win all recorded.
Ricardo Guadalupe, Hublot CEO, said: “The best moments in football will be etched in your memories. Ask anybody to recount their key moments – they are always associated with a particular day, minute, second, sometimes hundredths of a second. In football, it’s scoring in the 15th minute, equalising 3 minutes before the final whistle, or the minute which marked a tactical change at a crucial moment in the match.”
In 2012, Hublot became the timekeeper and official watch for the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Europa League. Hublot is also the official supplier of the referee’s watches.
Since 2018, Hublot has been the partner of the UEFA Europa Conference League (UECL) for the first 2021-2022 season and since 2019 for the UEFA Women’s Champions League.
